July 16, 2015 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Madison Mallards News Release
Madison, Wis. - The Madison Mallards are excited to announce that outfielder Anthony Gonsolin (St. Mary's College) and catcher Collin Theroux (San Joaquin Delta CC) will participate in the Northwoods League's 2015 Marshfield Clinic Home Run Challenge prior to next Tuesday's All-Star game at Witter Field. Nine hitters from both the North and South divisions were chosen to partake in the event, which will feature a nine-inning competition between the two divisions.
Gonsolin, a 6-foot-2 outfielder and right-handed pitcher who owns a team-high 10 home runs entering play on Thursday, became one of three Mallards hitters selected to the 2015 All-Star South Division roster earlier this week alongside Jean Ramirez (Illinois State) and Logan Regnier (Central Michigan). Theroux, a 6-foot-3 catcher from San Mateo, Calif., meanwhile holds true to a club-best .629 slugging percentage and seven round-trippers across 62 at-bats this summer.
Joining Gonsolin and Theroux on the South Division team will be Lakeshore's Lucas Raley (Lake Erie College), Kenosha's Jason Scholl (Eastern Illinois), La Crosse's Mason McCoy (Central Illinois College), Wisconsin Rapids' Mitch McGeein (Eastern Michigan), Green Bay's Ryan Donovan (Hofstra) and Wisconsin's Max Ponzurick (Virginia Tech) and Albee Weiss (Cal State Northridge). Together, they have combined for 62 home runs across 1,298 at-bats (20.9 AB/HR, on average).
The Marshfield Clinic All-Star Game festivities will begin on Monday, July 20 with an evening banquet at Hotel Mead & Conference Center honoring the players selected to the North and South Division All-Star teams. The banquet will feature a keynote address by Milwaukee Brewers President of Baseball Operations-General Manager Doug Melvin along with a question and answer session for the Brewers chief executive.
