Dogs Come Alive in Series Finale Win vs. Milwaukee

ROSEMONT, Ill. - David Olmedo-Barrera mashed a grand slam, Luke Westphal hurled another quality start and the Chicago Dogs rebounded to defeat the Milwaukee Milkmen, 9-3, in the series finale at Impact Field.
The long ball was Olmedo-Barrera's sixth of the season and first career grand slam. With a single in the fifth inning, the California native extended his hitting streak to 24 games.
Luke Westphal (W, 9-1) pitched six strong innings, surrendering two earned runs and six hits with three walks and seven strikeouts.
Kelly Dugan reached base four times in his return to the Dogs' lineup, batting 2-for-3 with two singles, two walks, two runs scored and an RBI.
In the fourth inning, Milwaukee struck first when Adam Walker roped an RBI single.
The lead would not last long, as the Dogs took the lead in the bottom of the frame. After Jordan Dean doubled, Dugan ripped a run-scoring single to knot the game at one. Two batters later, Tony Rosselli brought Dugan home with his own RBI single, giving Chicago the 2-1 advantage.
The Milkmen knotted things up in the top of the fifth, courtesy of a Garrett Copeland sacrifice fly.
In the bottom of the frame, Chicago retook the lead once more with another RBI single, this time off the bat of Victor Roache. Two batters later, Roache crossed home on a wild pitch to make it 4-2 Chicago.
The Dogs broke the game open with a five-spot in the seventh. After Rey Gonzalez drew a bases-loaded walk, Olmedo-Barrera launched a 1-1 pitch over the right field wall for a grand slam, pushing the Dogs' lead to 9-2.
Casey Crosby and Rich Mascheri combined for scoreless seventh and eighth innings, and Kyle Halbohn shut the door in the ninth to secure the victory.
The Dogs continue their homestand tomorrow by opening a three-game series against the Cleburne Railroaders. RHP Wes Torrez gets the start with first pitch set for 7:05 PM.
