Dodgers Clipped by 'Cakes, 4-2

Oklahoma City - Isaac Galloway hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the fifth inning and the New Orleans Baby Cakes limited the Oklahoma City Dodgers to a two runs, sending the Dodgers to a 4-2 loss Friday night at The Shrine on Airline.

The loss was the sixth straight for the Dodgers (43-33), who have lost nine of their last 11 games. It was also another close loss for OKC, as the last five defeats have been by a combined six runs.

New Orleans (38-42) jumped in front early with a two-out rally in the first inning. After the first two batters were retired, each of the next three reached base, including a RBI single by Cristhian Adames to give the Baby Cakes a 1-0 lead.

It stayed a one-run game until the fifth inning. With two outs in the top of the inning, Dodgers pitcher Daniel Corcino smacked a RBI double to the right-center field gap to even the score.

The Baby Cakes were able to regain control in the bottom of the inning. With a runner on and two out, Galloway sent a 2-2 pitch out to left field for his seventh home run of the year, putting New Orleans up, 3-1.

New Orleans added to its lead in the sixth inning when pitcher Dillon Peters slapped a RBI single over the head over Angelo Mora at third base to give the Baby Cakes their largest lead.

Travis Taijeron led off the seventh inning with an opposite field home run into the pool past the right field fence to get the Dodgers back within two. It was Taijeron's second homer in as many games, and he ended up scoring both of the team's runs Friday while going 2-for-4.

OKC never got closer after that, as the New Orleans pitching staff retired nine of the final 11 batters to close out the game.

Peters (2-4) turned in seven solid innings to pick up the win. The lefty held the Dodgers to two runs and seven hits, with no walks and five strikeouts.

Javy Guerra followed Peters pitched the final two frames. He gave up a double to the first batter he faced, but then retired six straight, including the last five via strikeout.

Corcino (2-1) took his first loss of the season after allowing three runs and five hits over five innings. He tied his season high with four walks and struck out five.

The Dodgers have now lost six of their last seven games in New Orleans and have been held two or fewer runs each time, totaling nine runs.
