Dock Spiders Now Tied for First After Win over Kenosha

FOND DU LAC, WI - The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (31-19) took down the Kenosha Kingfish (23-26) 6-5 to move into a tie with the Kingfish for first place in the second half of the season.

Fond du Lac wasted no time getting on the board as they ripped out five straight singles in the 1st inning scoring on three of them. Zac Taylor (Illinois) got his first hit and RBI as a Dock Spider when he drove home the first run of the ball game. Cole Zabowski (Ole Miss) would follow up with a base hit of his own sending two runs home for an early 3-0 lead.

Peyton Sanderlin (Christian Brothers) found the strikeout all night long for Fondy and was excellent in his second start of the season. Sanderlin went for 6 2/3 which included him retiring the order four times. He finished the night allowing 5 hits, 4 runs, and dished out 6 strikeouts.

After Kenosha would cut the deficit to one by scoring two runs in the 2nd inning the scoreboard would remain the same until the bottom of the 6th.

After back to back singles from Tyler Wardwell (Duke) and Braden Stutzman (Oregon), Jordan Prendiz (UCLA)would send both runners home with a two RBI single giving Fondy a 5-2 lead.

The Kingfish answered right back scoring two of their own in the 7th making the lead just 5-4 for the Spiders.

Tyler Wardwell (Duke) would answer with two outs in the 7th sending the final Dock Spiders run home with his second single of the night.

Kenosha would grab one in the 8th but it would not be enough. Zach Bryant (Daytona State) would earn his tenth save of the season giving Fondy the big 6-5 win.

With the two teams tied for first place in the second half of the season they will meet again tomorrow night at Herr-Baker Field at 6:35 PM.
