Traverse City Pit Spitters News Release
Traverse City, MI - The Pit Spitters dropped the final regular season home game against the Kokomo Jackrabbits 5-3 on Sunday.
The Pit Spitters scored three runs in the second on sac flies from Miguel Useche and Mario Camilletti. The third run was scored on quality baserunning by Christian Faust.
The Jackrabbits evened the score in the fourth with timely two-out hitting. Those were the only runs given up by starter Jeremy Neff in his last start of the summer. Neff finished six strong innings, getting a no decision. He leaves the team third in the league in ERA and first on the team in strikeouts.
The Jackrabbits took the lead in the top of the ninth with two runs. The two runs were the first earned runs allowed this season by reliever John Beuckelaere. He had the most innings pitched and batters faced of any pitcher with a 0.00 ERA.
In the game the Pit Spitters stranded nine runners on base, eight of them in scoring position. In three innings they had a runner on third with one out and failed to score the runner. In the last two losses to Kokomo, the Pit Spitters left five runners on third base with less than two outs.
