Amarillo, TX- A night after San Angelo stunned the Dillas by plating 7 runs in the 9th inning to take a 15-13 win in game 2, the Dillas returned the favor in the third game of the series by plating 7 runs in the 8th to nab a 9-5 win. 3 of the 7 runs were unearned, as the Colts had 2 key errors in the innings which contributed to the Dilla's uprising.
The Colts were on top early 2-0 on RBI hits from Matt Sanchez and Jorge Diaz, the Dillas would answer with 2 runs in the 5th on an RBI triple by Dan Meier, with Meier scoring on a Colts error. The game remained deadlocked 2-2 into the 8th, when the Colts had a 3 run inning keyed by Juan Rocha's 11th homer of the year, a 2-run blast to put the game in the hands of the Colts bullpen with a 3 run lead to protect. Jason Von Haefen continued his struggle with his control as he would not retire a batter, Chad Johnson followed by giving up the game-tying triple off the bat of Odannis Ayala.
Amarillo would score 4 more times to stun the Colts by a final of 9-5. The outcome ruined a great performance by Dave Therneau, who pitched 7 innings, allowing just 1 earned run. Cristy Rosa, who gave up 5 earned got the win to go to 3-5 while Johnson took the loss for the Colts to fall to 4-6. In the game, Colts second-baseman Diaz stole his league leading 32nd and 33rd stolen bases of the year. The 1st 3 hitters (Diaz, Sanchez, Rocha) all had a 2-4 night while the Dillas were paced by Benny Craig's 3-4 evening with 3 singles.
