San Angelo Colts News Release
Amarilli, TX--After a demoralizing 11-6 loss the night earlier, the Colts looked to rebound and square the series up at a game each. After giving up 11 runs the night before, Colts pitching was tagged for 13 runs tonight, but tonight even 13 runs couldn't keep down the Colts who took home a 15-13 come from behind win. San Angelo would take the early lead on a Bert Aguilar 2-run homer, his 5th of the year. The Dillas hit back to back homers with Carlos Figueroa and Asdrubal Oropeza each contributing to cut the lead to 3-2. San Angelo would answer with a 4 run 4th, highlighted by a Matt Sanchez 2 run single to stretch it to 7-2. Amarillo would score the next 11 runs however and make it 13-7 going to the 8th. The Colts got a run in the 8th to cut it to 13-8 to set the stage for the rally of the year in the 9th.
10 men came to the plate in the 9th, and 7 runs were scored including a bases loaded 3 run double from Eddie Gerald to get the game within reach, and back to back solo homeruns by pinch hitter Kasey Wilson (the game winner) and Tony James to give the Colts the 15-13 lead. Turned out they would need every bit of that lead, as the Dillas mounted a 2 out rally to load the bases, and with Benny Craig at the plate, Jason Sena was summoned to the pitcher's mound and with a 3-2 count, struck out Craig to leave the bases loaded. Chad Johnson threw 2 1/3 innings to get his 4th win of the year while Sena notched his 1st save. Shawn Morgan got the blown save and the loss for the Dillas. Amarillo was lead by Figueroa and Odannis Ayala's 4-5 evenings, while the Colt's Gerald was 3-5 with 4 RBI.
