Dillas Add Some Funk To Bullpen

July 23, 2007 - United League Baseball (ULB) - Amarillo Dillas News Release

AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Dillas announced today the signing of right-handed pitcher Shane Funk. The 6'6," 245 pound, Panama City Beach, Florida native becomes the youngest player on the Dillas roster at age 20.

Funk was selected in the fourth round (129th overall) by the Texas Rangers in the 2005 amateur entry draft out of high school. He played for the Rangers rookie organization in 2005 and 2006 in Arizona of the Gulf Coast League. He was later traded to the Washington Nationals organization.

Funk is expected to pitch in relief in the upcoming four-game series against the first-place Alexandria Aces. The Dillas welcome him to the organization.

Monday, the Dillas will be taking on Alexandria for the first game of a four-game series at 7:05 pm with Dillas Pre-Game set to begin at 6:50 pm on 1010 AM The Canyon and online via AudioSportsOnline.com. Game time is tentative and is subject to blackout.

The Amarillo Dillas Baseball Club is a member of United League Baseball, an independent league of six professional baseball teams located in Texas and Louisiana. The United League is preparing for its second season this summer with teams located in Amarillo, Edinburg, Laredo, Harlingen, and San Angelo, Texas; and Alexandria, Louisiana. The ULB will play a 100-game schedule between May and August 2007.
