Aces Tee Off on Dillas

ALEXANDRIA, LA - The Alexandria Aces batters crushed Amarillo Dillas pitching for 18 hits and 15 runs in a 15-7 pummeling of the Dillas on Monday night at Bringhurst Field in front of 1,172 fans.

Dillas starter Kyle Allen (5-5) got the loss in three innings plus of work as he gave up ten hits and six runs. Aces starter Buddy Bengel (4-4) got the win as he allowed only three runs and five hits while striking out eight in the effort.

The Dillas would take an early lead in the first as Gary Schneidmiller hit an RBI double to score Jordan Ramos for their first lead. Alexandria would respond with a Palmer Karr Jr. RBI single in the first to tie the game 1-1.

The Aces would move up with three runs off four hits in the second inning, but the Dillas would get within a run on a bases loaded two-RBI single by Ramos in the fourth to put the score 4-3.

Alexandria would continue to score with ten runs combined in the fourth, fifth and sixth to take a 14-3 lead. A Bryan Sabatella solo homerun put the Aces up by 12.

In the ninth, after walks to Rick Owens Jr. and Kevin Moore, Danny Bravo hit a huge three-run homerun to right field to bring the score within nine. After a Brett Donahoo RBI single brought the score within eight, closer Justin Dowdy finished off the Dillas in the ninth to fall 15-7.

With the loss, the Dillas fall to 12-8 on the second-half of the season, 38-32 overall and within two games of the first-place Aces. Tuesday, the Dillas will take Alexandria for the second game of a four-game series at 7:05 pm with Dillas Pre-Game set to begin at 6:50 pm on 1010 AM The Canyon and online via Game time is tentative and is subject to blackout.
