Colorado Rapids News Release
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - Colorado Rapids forward Diego Rubio has been called up to Chile's national team ahead of its friendlies in Europe against Poland on November 16 and Slovakia on November 20, the Football Federation of Chile announced today.
Rubio's call-up follows a record-setting season for the 29-year-old. In addition to finishing as the Rapids' top scorer, the Chilean recorded the most goals plus assists in a single season in Rapids history (23) and tied the club record for most goals scored in a single season (16). Rubio also set a new club record for most game-winning goals all-time (13) and reached the fifth-most goals scored all-time in club history (35).
At the senior level, Rubio has earned nine caps for La Roja since making his debut on June 23, 2011, in a friendly against Paraguay. Most recently, Rubio earned a call-up for Chile's FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in 2020.
