Jackson Generals News Release
MONTGOMERY, ALA. (JULY 15, 2009) - The Seattle Mariners have announced the following roster moves affecting the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx.
OF Gavin Dickey has been reinstated from the disabled list and released from his Minor League Contract. Dickey played in four games for the Jaxx, going 5-for-12 with two RBI and a run scored. Dickey was placed on the DL on June 22nd (right ankle).

The Jaxx open a five game series in Montgomery tonight at 7:05. The Jaxx opened the 2009 season at Riverwalk Stadium, taking four of five from the Biscuits. The Jaxx lead the season series 6-4.
Diamond Jaxx Report: Johan Limonta drove in Marshall Hubbard from third in the bottom of the ninth inning at Pringles Park giving the Diamond Jaxx (14-6) a 4 to 3 win over Mobile (10-9). The walk-off hit is the third in the last 10 games and widens the lead in the division standings to 4.5 games over Chattanooga. Marshall Hubbard, Johan Limonta and Matt Mangini each had multi-hit games in the victory. The Jaxx win their seventh series of the season and the third straight with the win on Saturday night leading into the All-Star break.
All Star Recap: Dominant pitching propelled the North Division to a 7-0 shutout of the South on Monday night at the Southern League All-Star Game at Regions Park in Birmingham, Ala. Jaxx DH, Marshall Hubbard went 1-for-3 with an RBI in the game and reached base three times including two walks. Jaxx relief pitcher, Anthony Varvaro got the final out of the game in the ninth inning in a non save situation. Jaxx outfielder, Ezequiel Carrera was selected but unable to play.
Dealing in July! Jaxx pitching is the key to the 9-2 start to July. Jaxx pitching has a 2.55 ERA this month. Three of five Jaxx starters have ERA's under two this month. The staff has compilled 71 K's to just 37 BB. The team WHIP is 1.29 in July.
Jaxx 1st Half Notes:
Won a season-high 8 consecutive games July 2-9 and 14 of final 17 games to finish the first half after starting the season 27-46...had only one winning streak of at least 3 games before strong run (May 18 20)...at the All-Star Break, led the Southern League (2nd half) with a 14-6 record...had 75 home runs, 2nd in the League despite being last in hits and doubles and 7th in batting average...Greg Halman led the team with 20 home runs, including 4 multi-home run games (back-toback games July 4-5)...had 18 different players record at least 1 home run...All-Star reliever Anthony Varvaro led the team with a 1.39 ERA (5 ER, 32.1 IP) in 21 appearances...starter Justin Souza had allowed 2 earned runs or less in 11 of his 14 starts before being traded to Oakland for Jack Hannahan...reliever Mumba Rivera tied for the team lead with 6 wins despite pitching exclusively out of the bullpen.
