El Paso Diablos News Release
El Paso, TX- In a critical fourth and final game of the Diablos-Lemurs series, the Diablos came away with a huge win to split their four game series against the Laredo Lemurs winning 7-5.
The Diablos got off to a great start scoring three runs in the first inning to go up early on the Lemurs, thanks to RBIs from Brian Joynt and Devin Thaut. Even though the Diablos couldn't produce another offensive inning like the first until the end of the game, starting pitcher Justin Kuks was terrific going 6.1 innings not even surrendering one run, on three hits, to go along with four strikeouts.
With the Diablos all but dominating the game, things came to a standstill when Laredo scored five runs in the seventh inning, and manager Carlos Lezcano was ejected from the game. The Diablos came up big in the bottom of the seventh inning though, taking the lead back scoring three runs, the Lemurs made a peculiar decision loading the bases for right fielder Brian Joynt, who happens to be the best hitter on the team, nevertheless Joynt produced a two run RBI single to give the Diablos the lead and eventual win.
The Diablos are now 18-42 this season, as they finished their four game series against the Laredo Lemurs. The Diablos will now start a six game series spanning from July 23rd to July 28th, and will not return home until July 29th.
