El Paso Diablos News Release

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX- The Diablos used a potent offensive attack and strong work from their bullpen to beat the Grand Prairie AirHogs by a final score of 8-6, taking two out of three in the road series and winning their third straight three game set.

As they did the previous game, El Paso jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead. Welington Dotel and Jermy Acey each had RBI singles in the frame.

After the AirHogs scored one on a solo home run by David Thomas, the Diablos jumped on starter NickDeBarr (10-4), who had been 7-0 at home coming into the contest. The Diablos used five straight hits and an error to extend the lead to 6-1 in the third.

Grand Prairie scored four of their own, however, in the bottom of the third and then tied the game at six on Keanon Simon's RBI double in the fourth.

The Diablos would then take the lead for good with two runs in the top of the sixth off DeBarr. Patrick Arlis scored all the way from first on J.J. Muse's RBI double, and Muse himself scored on Reid Fronk's two out base hit.

El Paso's bullpen, in support of departed starter Steven Evarts, made sure the lead stood. Ramon Garcia (1-0) made his Diablos debut by retiring the first seven batters he faced to earn the victory. Ronny Morla and Tim Adleman added scoreless appearances before Marcel Prado recorded the final four outs to earn his tenth save.

The victory moves the Diablos to 26-36 as the team returns home to take on the Amarillo Sox. First pitch of the three game series and six game home stand is Friday at 7:05 p.m. (MST).
