American Association Game Recaps

July 26, 2012 - American Association (AA) News Release

Fargo-Moorhead 8, Sioux Falls 4

A double by RF Ryan Stovall in the eighth proved just enough for the RedHawks to capture their 11th consecutive home victory. Stovall's two-out two-RBI knock unknotted the score and sent Fargo-Moorhead to an 8-4 win over the Sioux Falls Pheasants.

Fargo-Moorhead held a 4-0 advantage through five, helped in part by a two-run homer from CF Nic Jackson. The Pheasants came right back, however, going deep three times to tie the ballgame. Shots by 1B Trevor Lawhorn and RF Ridge Carpenter brought the score to 4-3 in the sixth. Two innings later, Carpenter delivered another long ball to bring Sioux Falls all the way back against the surging RedHawks.

The RedHawks decisive four-run bottom of the eighth was the product of timely hits by Stovall and 3B Eric Campbell. However, the Pheasants hurt their own efforts with a pair of errors that made all four runs unearned. LHP Joe Harris benefited from the rally to pick up his first win of the year in a brief relief appearance. Harris faced three batters in the eighth, allowing the game-tying homer and a single before recording the inning's final out.

Quebec 5, Winnipeg 0

The Goldeyes could not find an answer for Quebec DH Rene Leveret (pictured) or 1B Josue Peley, and the Capitales' top bats were ultimately Winnipeg's undoing. Leveret went 4-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored, as Quebec beat Winnipeg 5-0 out west. Peley also had four hits and an RBI to help the Capitales sweep their cross-country, interleague rivals three games to none.

Leveret got the Capitales on the board in the first with an RBI single. Three innings later, he doubled to center field and came around to score when Peley followed up with a double of his own. Leveret struck again with another RBI single in Quebec's big, three-run seventh inning.

Quebec starter Jeff Duda pitched brilliantly as usual, going seven innings and striking out nine Goldeyes. Duda, who was named the Can-Am League's Pointstreak Pitcher of the Month in June, allowed just six hits and did not walk a batter in the effort. The right-hander propelled himself into sole possession of the Can-Am league lead for wins with his 10th of the year. He is still undefeated and also leads the Can-Am pack in ERA and strikeouts.
