Devils Sign Jacob MacDonald

ALBANY, NY - The Albany Devils have signed defenseman Jacob MacDonald to a two-year American Hockey League contract beginning with the 2016-17 season. The announcement was made by Albany Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald.

MacDonald signed a PTO with Albany on January 5, 2017. In his time with the Devils, he has played in 19 games putting up 11 points on four goals and seven assists. He first appeared with the Devils' organization during the 2015 Prospects Challenge in Buffalo. The 24 year old began this season in the ECHL with the Toledo Walleye. In 30 games with Toledo, he picked up seven goals and 19 assists for 26 points and a +12 rating. MacDonald made his AHL debut last year playing in one game with the Springfield Falcons. The second year defenseman spent the majority of last season, his rookie year, with the Elmira Jackals. In 72 games, he was fourth overall and first amongst defensemen with 37 points on 17 goals and 20 assists, and was named to the ECHL All-Rookie Team.

Prior to turning pro, MacDonald spent four seasons with Cornell University (ECAC), posting four goals and 17 assists for 21 points as well as 53 penalty minutes in 104 games. He also spent two seasons in the USHL with the Waterloo Blackhawks.

The 6'0" 205-lb., left-shooting defenseman was born February 26, 1993 in Brighton, MI.
