Binghamton Devils News Release
BINGHAMTON - The Binghamton Devils today announced their partnership with Lockheed Martin for Military Appreciation Night on Saturday, November 10 against the Utica Comets.
Veterans and active military will receive a free ticket to the game and can purchase additional tickets for a discounted rate of $16 HERE. Fans are encouraged to wear red, and Lockheed Martin will assist with this by providing all fans in attendance with a red Remembrance t-shirt.
"Lockheed Martin is proud to be a long-standing sponsor of Military Appreciation Night with the Binghamton Devils," said John Contrata, (Acting) Vice President, Advanced Product Solutions, and Owego General Manager. "We are especially excited for this year's event as we are carrying over our employee R.E.D. (Remember Everyone Deployed) shirt initiative to this year's game. This game's R.E.D. out will further demonstrate the Southern Tier's commitment to our Servicemen and Servicewomen and let them know how much we appreciate their sacrifice for the country."
To honor the veterans, the Binghamton Devils will trade in their white and black jersey for a red, white, black, and gray camouflage jersey. These special sweaters will bare patches of the five branches of the military: The Department of the Army, the United States Coast Guard, the Department of the Navy, the Department of the Marine Corps, and the Department of the Air Force. Following the game, the jerseys will be auctioned off, with the proceeds benefiting Twin Tiers Honor Flight and Stand With Me.
Twin Tiers Honor Flight is a non-profit charitable organization created soley to honor America's veterans for their sacrifices. As part of the national Honor Flight Network, they transport mainly World War II, Korea and Vietnam era veterans to Washinton, D.C. in honor of their service, so they can visit and reflect at their memorials.
"It's very special," said Jim Benedict, Twin Tiers Honor Flight Board Member and Mission Coordinator. "I have been doing this for a year and have completed three missions. A lot of my friends went to Vietnam and I have a very soft spot in my heart for all of our Veterans. If they haven't done what they've done, we wouldn't be standing here."
Stand with Me is a non-profit organization created to serve veterans who have a service-related mental health disability. They provide a complimentary year-long training for veteran/dog teams to register as Service Dogs, helping create the necessary bond between human and canine for both to become effective members of a service dog team.
"It's a tremendous honor to be able to do this work and to be able to provide this service for veterans in our community," said Founder & Executive Director of Stand With Me, Francess McMahon. "I'm really honored to be a part of Military Appreciation Night at the Devils game. Some of our veteran service dog teams will be there and I'm really excited that they're going to have the honor of being at the game."
The Devils hit the road Wednesday morning to take on the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 10:30 a.m. before returning home Friday and Saturday night. Cash in on another Friday 4-Pack Night with four tickets, four hotdogs, and four sodas for $80. CLICK HERE.
