Week 5 Report: Rockford Rolls to Points in 9 of 10
November 6, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rockford IceHogs News Release
BACON BITS
-The Rockford IceHogs notched five of six possible points during last week's schedule, defeating the Milwaukee Admirals on Friday and the Iowa Wild on Sunday, and suffering a shootout loss to the Wild on Saturday. Rockford has picked up points in nine of the last 10 games (6-1-1-2) to move into a tie for second place in the Central Division.
-Rockford has limited opponents to just two goals in each of the last six games since Oct. 24. The IceHogs now rank seventh in the AHL with just 2.75 goals allowed per game. Prior to the beginning of the current six-game stretch, Rockford held opponents to two goals just once through the first six contests of the season (Oct. 14 vs. HER, 5-2 win).
-The IceHogs recalled a pair of defensemen from the Indy Fuel prior to the team's Sunday matchup with the Iowa Wild. Including those transactions, the Hogs have recalled four players from their ECHL affiliate since last Monday (Oct. 29). The transactions include forwards Radovan Bondra and Brett Welychka, and blueliners Neil Manning and Josh McArdle.
-Rockford is in the midst of a stretch in which it plays 39 consecutive games against an opponent from the Central Division. The IceHogs will not face an opponent outside of the Central Division until Feb. 6, when they host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The Hogs are 4-0-0-2 against foes from their own division in 2018-19, and have points in 15 of the last 18 games against the Central Division (12-3-1-2 record).
-Collin Delia made a season-high 41 saves against the Wild on Saturday, just five shy of his career-high mark last season against Manitoba. Delia has recorded 30 or more saves in five of seven games this season and is currently third in the league with 237 total saves in 2018-19.
-Jacob Nilsson scored his first AHL goal as the game-winning tally in Sunday's win against the Wild. The forward logged just two points through his first nine games this season but has since tallied three points in his last three contests since Nov. 2. That three-game stretch includes his first multi-point game on Nov. 2 at Milwaukee (2a).
