Stockton Heat News Release
SAN JOSE, CALIF. - Kerby Rychel scores his team-leading sixth goal of the season but San Jose's strong second period helped them beat the Heat by a 5-2 final. Coming off the shutout loss on Saturday, it was important for the Heat to get on the board first and they did just that, scoring an early power-play goal courtesy of Rychel. However, after San Jose tied the game in the second period on their own power-play marker, the team rattled off a goal just 17 seconds later to take the lead and followed that up with their third goal in a matter of just 3:08 putting the Heat in a hole after two periods 3-0. San Jose recorded their second power-play goal of the night to go up three goals, but Andrew Mangiapane recorded his 99th AHL point, a goal, to pull the Heat within two, but the team couldn't find the tying marker and fell on the road to San Jose for the first time this season.
The Heat return home to open a home-and-home series with the Ontario Reign starting at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Stockton Arena. It's the first Fry Day of the season, presented by Golden State Restaurant Group McDonald's. Fans can bring their receipts from participating locations to the Stockton Arena Ticket Office for a buy one, get one free ticket!
