Devils Nip IceCaps 2-1 in Shootout

The St. John's IceCaps picked up a hard-earned point in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Albany Devils Saturday night at the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y.

The IceCaps had a glorious opportunity to win the game with a four-minute powerplay in overtime but could not beat Devils netminder Maxime Clermont. St. John's beat Albany 4-1 Friday night.

John Albert opened scoring for St. John's as he deposited a rebound at the doorstep on the powerplay at 15:01 of the first period. Will O'Neill and Julien Brouillette picked up assists. The Devils squared the game with a man advantage at 6:18 of the second stanza as Reid Boucher snuck behind the IceCaps defence and skated in alone to beat St. John's netminder Connor Hellebuyck.

Boucher was the lone-scorer in the shootout which sealed the victory for Albany.
