Albany Devils News Release

ALBANY, NY -- The Hartford Wolf Pack scored three goals in the final five minutes to defeat the Albany Devils, 5-2, Saturday at XL Center. Of the game's seven goals only one was scored while playing five-on-five.

Albany (22-19-4-5) scored on the power play and shorthanded. Hartford (27-15-4-3), which had the full strength goal, scored once five-on-four, twice four-on-four and once six-on-five.

Mike Sislo and Rod Pelley registered goals and Scott Clemmensen made 27 saves.

For Hartford, Danny Kristo had a pair of tallies, while Chad Nehring and Tyler Brown both had a goal and an assist. Chris Mueller also found the back of the net. In his second AHL appearance of the season, Jeff Malcolm made 29 saves.

Hartford Strikes Late

Slashing calls on Joe Whitney and Hartford's Steve Spinell at 15:17 of the third opened up the ice as the teams played four-on-four. Kristo was able to force a turnover high in the defensive zone to create a breakaway chance. All alone on Clemmensen, he snapped a shot blocker side for the game-winning goal at 16:35.

Nehring added to Hartford's lead, redirecting Mat Bodie's point shot at 16:53 and Kristo capped the win with an empty netter at 18:45.

The Wolf Pack's final three goals covered a span of two minutes and 10 seconds.

Special Teams Battle

The game's first three goals came with special teams units on the ice. Sislo started the scoring with his 12th goal of the season and fifth power-play tally at 7:55 of the first period. He won a battle along the wall, walked the puck into the high and picked the upper-right corner.

Pelley gave Albany a 2-0 advantage nearly 10 minutes later with a shorthanded marker -- the team's fifth of the season. Two Hartford players gravitated towards Darcy Zajac in the neutral zone. Before taking a hit, Zajac hit a racing Pelley for a one-on-one chance against Malcolm. After a quick fake, the Devils Captain slipped the puck five-hole at 17:11 for his fifth goal of the year.

Before the end of the period, Hartford's Chris Bourque setup Mueller at 19:15 on the power play to make it a 2-1 game.

Albany finished 1-3 on the power-play, while Hartford went 1-6.

Notables

Corbin McPherson, who is the only Devil to play in every game this season, made his 200th career AHL appearance ... Albany is now 30-21-2-5 all-time and 2-3-0-1 this season against Hartford.
