Albany Devils News Release

WORCESTER, MA -- The Albany Devils put a halt to the Worcester Sharks franchise-record eight game winning streak and jumped the Sharks in the standings along the way. Joe Whitney, David Wohlberg and Brandon Burlon each found the back of the net in the Devils 3-2 victory Friday at DCU Center.

The win extended Albany's point streak to five games, going 4-0-1-0 during that span. The Devils improved to 20-14-3-5, while the Sharks moved to 21-14-3-2.

Albany jumped out to a 3-0 advantage through the first 27 minutes of play. Whitney tipped Burlon's point shot at 6:06 to open the scoring, and Wohlberg followed with a quick wrister in the slot at 12:44.

In the second, Burlon's point shot found its way past Worcester netminder J.P. Anderson at 6:25.

Prior to the game, the Sharks received reinforcements from their NHL club. San Jose reassigned Dylan DeMelo, Barclay Goodrow and Tomas Hertl to the AHL. Goodrow and Hertl have combined for 79 NHL games this season.

Hertl was the only one of the trio to find his name on the scoresheet. He helped set up Mirco Mueller's tally at 13:12 of the second period to make it a 3-1 score.

Evan Trupp pulled the Sharks within one, capitalizing on a turnover at 7:19 for the game's final goal.

Netminder Maxime Clermont improved to 3-0-0 with 18 saves on 20 shots. At the other end, Anderson turned aside 17 shots on 20 attempts.
