
Pirates Take Game One of Home and Home with Bridgeport

Portland, Me. - The Portland Pirates (23-17-3-0) came from behind to beat the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (19-18-4-1) 4-2 on Friday night at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland. It was the Portland leg of a Friday-Saturday home-and-home series between the Pirates and Sound Tigers.
Bridgeport's John Persson got the scoring started with a goal at 8:51 in the first period, assisted by Harry Zolnierczyk and Adam Pelech. Brendan Shinnimin tied it all up for the Pirates at 12:44 in the period, assisted by Lucas Lessio and Justin Hodgman. Lessio found the back of the net with a goal of his own a minute later at 13:35, assisted by Tyler Gaudet.
The Sound Tigers tied it back up 2-2 midway through the second frame. Mario Lamoureux scored at 9:32, assisted by Colton Gillies and Brett Gallant. Portland sailed ahead with the game-winning goal from Brandon Gormley at 17:20, assisted by Alex Bolduc and Jordan Martinook.
Eric Selleck locked it up for Portland, spinning around to net a goal at 15:22 in the third, with help from Gaudet and Greg Miller.
It was a good night for Pirates goalie Louis Domingue, who (7-3-1) saved 31 shots, allowing two goals. Kevin Poulin, Bridgeport's net minder, saved 28 shots and allowed 4.
The Pirates head to Bridgeport tomorrow night to close out the weekend, taking on the Sound Tigers at 7:30 p.m. It's then the AHL All-Star Break, with Bolduc heading to Utica, N.Y. to represent the Pirates. The Pirates then take an extended road trip and will return to the Cross Insurance Arena on Tuesday, February 17 to face the Hartford Wolf Pack at 7:00 p.m. For tickets, save up to 40% on box office prices when you call 207-PIRATES.
