Devils Downed By Falcons

SPRINGFIELD, MA - In their first midweek game in nearly a month, the second-place Albany Devils lost, 4-0, against the first-place Springfield Falcons Tuesday at MassMutual Center. The Falcons used three goals in the second period to improve to 19-12-1-4. The Devils move to 24-15-3-4.

Alex Aleardi, Spencer Machacek, Frederic St. Denis and Jonathan Marchessault each scored for Springfield and former Devil Mike McKenna made 25 saves for his third shutout and 11th victory of the season.

For Albany, Scott Wedgewood made 27 saves.

Aleardi opened the scoring on a semi-breakaway 4:55 into the game. Machacek and St. Denis followed with a pair of power play goals at 3:36 and 11:16, respectively, in the middle frame.

Marchessault capped the second period scoring at 19:51.

The Devils will try and rebound with a 7 pm outing against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers Saturday at Webster Bank Arena. Fans can follow the away game online at ahllive.com or over the airwaves at 104.5 "The Team" ESPN Radio.
