Binghamton's lone trip to Worcester this season ended with a 6-3 win over the Sharks. Mike Hoffman led the Sens offensively with a career night highlighted with a four goals and one assist performance. Jean-Gabriel Pageau pitched in four helpers and goaltender Nathan Lawson turned aside 26 of 29 shots in his first start since leaving the January 11 game early due to injury.

Buddy Robinson started the night off for Binghamton notching his eighth goal of the season 3:22 into the opening period. The Sens controlled the puck for the majority of the frame, doubling up the Sharks in shots on goal 12-6. Hoffman scored his first tally in the game off a turnover deep in Worcester's defensive zone before beating goaltender Harri Sateri unassisted. Less than two minutes later, Hoffman added his ninth power-play goal of the year to give the Sens a 3-0 lead heading into first intermission.

Worcester cut Binghamton's lead to 3-1 when Travis Oleksuk beat Lawson on a power-play strike 6:45 into the second period. The Sharks earned another man-advantage marker less than seven minutes later when defenseman Konrad Abeltshauser's wrist shot from just inside the blueline found the back of the net at 13:35. The B-Sens went into the final intermission holding onto a 3-2 lead.

Binghamton earned an early power-play opportunity when Worcester's Dan DaSilva was whistled for a slash less than two minutes in. Cole Schneider finished off some nice puck movement around the Sharks' man-down defense for his 15th goal of the year making the score 4-2. Exactly four minutes later Tyler Gron scored his second goal of the campaign to shrink the B-Sens lead to one. However, Hoffman chipped in his 21st and 22nd tallies before the end of regulation to move the final score to 6-3.

Friday, Jan. 31: Binghamton 1, Manchester 5

PP: Binghamton 0 for 3, Manchester 0 for 8

Binghamton stumbled on the road losing 5-1 to the Manchester Monarchs in the final matchup of the two-game season series. Jean-Francois Berube stonewalled the B-Sens chances all night allowing just one goal on 28 shots faced to earn the victory. Nathan Lawson dropped to 15-6-0 for the season after allowing all five Monarchs goals before being relieved by Andrew Hammond at the 10:01 mark of the second period.

The Monarchs outshot the Sens 14-5 in the opening period and managed to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Brian O'Neill put the hosts on the board 3:24 into the period with a wrist shot over Lawson's right shoulder. Tanner Pearson increased Manchester's lead to two with his 15th goal of the year. Pearson snagged the puck after a long rebound from a Binghamton shot and carried it the length of the ice before beating Lawson at the 15:21 mark. Just as Binghamton started its first power-play chance of the night, Manchester made it 3-0. Linden Vey intercepted a clearing attempt from Lawson and sent home his eighth goal of the year with less than three minutes remaining.

Manchester continued to control the puck through the middle frame as they added two goals while holding Binghamton in check. Defenseman Chris Huxley hurled a puck towards the crease beating a screened Lawson for his first goal of the year at 9:26 of the period. Less than 30 seconds later, the Monarchs made it 5-0 when A.J. Gale rocketed home his eighth tally of the season ending Lawson's night in net for Binghamton. Andrew Hammond stopped the lone shot faced in just under 10 minutes of relief to keep the deficit frozen at five heading to the final period.

David Dziurzynski salvaged a goal at 17:09 of the final period allowing Binghamton to avoid the shutout.

Binghamton killed off all eight of the Monarchs' power-play attempts but failed to convert on their own three attempts. Hammond turned aside all six shots faced in just under 30 minutes of relief.

Saturday, Feb. 1: Binghamton 7, Portland 1

PP: Binghamton 2 for 10, Portland 1 for 7

The B-Sens concluded its four-game road trip with a 7-1 victory over the Portland Pirates. Despite meeting for the first time this season, the teams showed an obvious dislike towards one another early on and ended the night with 224 combined penalty minutes. Jim O'Brien led Binghamton offensively with two goals and two assists while Shane Prince tied a franchise record with four assists on the night.

Chris Wideman scored his sixth goal of the season 2:27 into the opening period to give Binghamton the early lead. Exactly four minutes later Danny Hobbs, who was recently recalled from the Elmira Jackals of the East Coast Hockey League and skating in his first career American Hockey League contest, extended the Sens lead to 2-0. Portland's Brandon Yip converted on a power-play shot just past the midway point of the period to get the Pirates on the board; however, O'Brien notched his first marker of the evening at 14:42 to give Binghamton a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes.

Corey Cowick and O'Brien tallied goals during the middle frame to extend the Sens lead to 5-1 heading into the final period where 32 of the 46 penalties between the teams were called. Dziurzynski scored less than five minutes into the third and from there tempers flared amongst skaters for the rest of the night. Through numerous fights, misconducts, pushing and shoving, Hoffman added a power-play goal with 2:51 remaining to move the final score to 7-1.

Hoffman and Hobbs finished with a goal and an assist apiece while 12 different Binghamton skaters registered points on the night. Hammond played strong all game between the pipes stopping 28 of 29 shots faced to improve to 13-8-3 on the year.

Record: 29-14-0-3 (61 points)

Standings: Binghamton remains atop the East Division with two wins in three contests this past week. With the four point week, the B-Sens now lead second place Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (26-16-1-3) and Norfolk (24-14-1-7), both with 56 points, by five. The Hershey Bears sit directly behind Norfolk and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton with 54 points and a 24-15-3-3 record. Syracuse sits in last place with a 17-20-2-5 record for 41 points.

THIS WEEK...

Wednesday, February 5 vs. Portland Pirates (Phoenix Coyotes)-7:05p.m.

Binghamton will host Portland in the back end of their home-and-home set to conclude their two-game season series. The B-Sens dismantled the Pirates this past Saturday 7-1 while the two teams combined for 224 penalty minutes. Portland is currently in last place in the Atlantic Division with a 16-19-2-7 record good for 41 points.

Offensively the Pirates are led by center Andy Miele who has posted 19 goals and 24 assists over 42 games this season. Goaltender Mark Visentin has seen action in 31 games establishing a 10-14-4 record with a 3.16 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage.

Saturday, February 8 vs. Hamilton Bulldogs (Montreal Canadiens) AT CANADIAN TIRE CENTRE-7:00p.m.

Binghamton will travel this Saturday for a scheduled home game versus the Hamilton Bulldogs at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa. This is the first of two meetings between the teams as the B-Sens travel to Montreal on February 21 to face the Bulldogs at the Bell Centre. Hamilton sits in third place in the North Division of the Western Conference with a 20-20-0-4 record and 44 points.

Former B-Sens player Martin St. Pierre leads all Bulldog skaters with 28 points (eight goals, 20 assists) through 41 games played. Four other players share the team lead in goals scored with nine. Goaltender Dustin Tokarski, a 2014 AHL All-Star Team selection, has appeared in 29 games this season compiling a 15-10-2 record with 2.23 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage.

PROMOTIONS:

Wednesday night will be College Night Toga Party here as Binghamton hosts the Portland Pirates at 7:05p.m. College students can receive $10 tickets when they present their College IDs at the B-Sens Executive Office located on the 3rd floor of the Arena.

Fidelis Care will also be sponsoring a post-game open skate where those who participate will receive a FREE Winter Hat from Fidelis Care.

The Binghamton University International Flag Dancers will be on hand to perform on the front concourse during first intermission.

SENS SNIPPETS...

Center Danny Hobbs tallied a goal and an assist in his AHL debut with Binghamton during their 7-1 win over the Portland Pirates on Saturday, February 1.

Forward Mike Hoffman tied two franchise records in the January 29 6-3 victory over the Worcester Sharks. Hoffman tallied four goals and an assist to earn his share of the B-Sens all-time record for most goals in a game and most points scored in a game while also earning AHL Player of the Week honors for his seven point (five goals, two assists) streak through three games.
