Devils Can't Rebound, Fall at Springfield

February 6, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Albany Devils News Release

SPRINGFIELD, MA -- Mike Sislo found the back of the net for the second straight game, but the Albany Devils fell to the Springfield Falcons, 4-1, Friday at MassMutual Center. Albany has lost back-to-back games for the first time in more than a month (Jan. 4 and 9).

The Devils, who are now 3-2-0-0 against the Falcons this season, go to 22-17-4-5. Springfield improves to 27-16-4-0, ending a seven-game winless streak.

In his 12 AHL appearance this year, Scott Clemmensen turned aside 24 shots. At the other end, Oscar Dansk made 29 saves for his sixth victory.

Offensively, Springfield received scoring from Sean Collins, Adam Cracknell, Michael Chaput and Trent Vogelhuber. Kerby Rychel and T.J. Tynan both registered a pair of assists.

Sislo Finds The Net Again

Sislo's tally was nearly identical to the one he scored at Manchester Wednesday. The 27-year-old entered the zone down the right wing and sent a wrister from near the face-off dot. The shot handcuffed Dansk to make it a 1-1 game just 22 seconds into the middle frame.

The goal was Sislo's 11th of the season, giving him seven points (3g-4a) in the last nine games. He is just two goals away from tying Stephen Gionta (2006-13) for second all-time in franchise history. In 219 contests, Sislo has 56 tallies.

Brandon Burlon posted the lone assist on the play. He is tied with Sislo for fourth on the team with 22 points. Burlon, who leads all Devils defenseman, has five goals and 17 helpers.

Quick Answer

Less than two minutes after Sislo tied the score, Cracknell responded at 2:22. The play began with a dump in that Clemmensen stopped behind the Devils net and handed off to his defenseman. Kerby Rychel was strong on the forecheck, won the puck and hit Cracknell in front for a quick shot over Clemmensen's left shoulder.

Springfield, which led 1-0 after Collins goal at 18:01 of the first, added to its lead on a five-on-three power play early in the third. Clemmensen made an athletic toe save on a cross-crease bid, but Chaput jammed in the rebound 40 seconds into the third.

Vogelhuber concluded the scoring, hitting the empty net with 41.3 seconds remaining.
