Detroit Shock finalizes 2006 opening day roster

Detroit Shock News Release
Auburn Hills, MI -Detroit Shock Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Bill Laimbeer announced the team's Opening Day Roster today, welcoming Russian import Irina Osipova to the team as the Shock prepares for its season-opening game vs. the Indiana Fever on Saturday, May 20 at 7 p.m.
Also joining the team in Indianapolis is second-year forward Angelina Williams, acquired in a trade Thursday with the Phoenix Mercury. To make room for Williams and Osipova on the roster, Detroit waived Yolanda Paige whom they had signed on May 15.
The Shock roster stands at 11 players. WNBA rules permit 13 players on team rosters with two players placed on the Inactive List prior to each game. There is no longer an Injured List in the WNBA, and there is no minimum number of games that a player must remain on the Inactive List.

The Detroit Shock open the 2006 WNBA Season at Indiana on May 20 at 7 p.m. The Shock home opener is scheduled for May 24 vs. the Minnesota Lynx at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available by calling (248) 377-0100 or by logging on to www.detroitshock.com
