Details Unveiled for Fourth Annual United for D.C. Golf Tournament

Washington, D.C. (August 15, 2005) - United for D.C., the non-profit arm of D.C. United, announced today details of the Fourth Annual United for D.C. Celebrity Golf Tournament, presented by United Bank. Thirty-six "fivesomes" will take to the links at Old Hickory Golf Club in Woodbridge, Virginia for a 1:30 p.m. ET shotgun start on Monday, September 19. Participants in this year's event will play alongside current and former United players and coaches as well as a host of other local sports and media celebrities, all while raising money for United for D.C.

"The golf tournament has proven to be our most successful fundraiser of the year for United for D.C.," said Executive Director of United for D.C. and United Director of Community Relations, Catherine Marquette. "The corporate community as well as D.C. United's dedicated fans have always supported the event, leading to sellouts the last few years. We hope for similar support this year, as we have very ambitions charitable goals for next year."

United Bank, a long-time sponsor of United for D.C.'s for-profit counterpart D.C. United, extends its outreach into the charitable side by signing up as presenting sponsor of the fourth annual golf tournament for the second year in a row. Cox Communications has signed up for a second year as a two-hole sponsor of the event while Acordia of Virginia, a first year sponsor, has signed up to support one hole. Doug Thompson & Family, Matt Mathai & Friends and Barry Liner/AEM Corporation are all four-time foursomes participating in the tournament.

Last year's golf tournament raised over $55,000 for United for D.C; The cost to participate in the 2005 charitable event is $225 per person or $800 for a foursome. One-hole sponsorships are $1,750, two-hole sponsorships are $2,250 and all-hole sponsorships are $3,500. Along with a foursome, sponsors of the event receive various degrees of recognition through advertisements in the event's program, logo displays on hole signage and banners and mentions in press releases and other materials.

In addition to foursomes adding a celebrity as their fifth player, participants in the tournament will receive United for D.C. golf shoe bags filled with various promotional items as well as complimentary lunch and dinner, before and after the tournament, and unlimited beverages throughout the day. They will also have the opportunity to buy raffle tickets and mulligans and bid on an array of silent auction items. Team prizes will be given for first, second, third and last place fivesomes. United for D.C. is currently looking for donors for all aforementioned items.
