KANSAS CITY, MO (Monday, August 15, 2005) - Kansas City Wizards forward Josh Wolff today was selected as the Honda MLS Player of the Week for Week 20 which ended on Sunday, August 14. The U.S. international scored twice in Kansas City's 3-2 win over the Chicago Fire on Wednesday, August 10 and followed that performance with three assists as the Wizards defeated Real Salt Lake 4-2 on Saturday at Rice-Eccles Stadium. Wolff, claiming his fourth career Player of the Week honor, becomes the first player to win the award twice this season.

Chicago took an early 2-0 lead on Wednesday night in Chicago, but Wolff would get KC back into the game with his first of the night in the 37th minute. Wolff raced onto a long through ball from forward Scott Sealy and chipped in a shot off the right post from 30 yards out, getting to the ball just ahead of Fire 'keeper Zach Thornton. The 28-year old claimed the game-winning goal in the 68th minute, taking a pass from Davy Arnaud from the right side and ripping a powerful shot past the Fire's second keeper of the night - Matt Pickens.

On Saturday, Wolff set up three of the four Wizards goals in another road win, this time in Salt Lake City. Midfielder Sasha Victorine was the recipient of two Wolff assists, first in the 8th and then again in the 86th minute. Wolff also set up Chris Klein's 56th minute goal. For the season, Wolff has scored six goals and leads the Wizards with nine assists.

Wolff narrowly edged out D.C. United midfielder Dema Kovalenko and KC teammate Sasha Victorine for the weekly award. The Honda Major League Soccer Player of the Week is selected every week throughout the MLS regular season by a panel of journalists from the Professional Soccer Reporters Association (PSRA)
