Up Next, CD CHIVAs usa: The MetroStars will take on CD Chivas USA (one of two new expansion teams new to MLS this season) on Sunday, August 21, 2005 at Giants Stadium. This will not only be the two clubs first meeting of the season, but their first meeting in the history of MLS.
After an off week, the Metros will take on the Kansas City Wizards at home on Saturday, September 3. This will be a pivotal game in the Eastern Conference playoff race for the Metros.
Tickets are available for all MetroStars home games at the Continental Airlines Arena box office and at all Ticketmaster outlets. Tickets will also be available through Ticketmaster by phone for callers in New Jersey (201-507-8900), New York (212-307-7171), and for Spanish-speaking customers throughout New York and New Jersey (212-307-4757).
COLUMBUS Recap: The MetroStars beat Columbus 2-1 on Sunday, August 14. Sergio Galvan Rey and Youri Djorkaeff scored goals for the "Red and Black." This win puts the Metros six points behind D.C. and Kansas City for the final playoff spot in the east.

DJORKAEFF AND RAZOV KEYS TO METROSTARS SUCCESS: The MetroStars are now 5-1-2 on the season when forward Youri Djorkaeff either scores a goal or tallies an assist. The Metros have had similar success when Razov scores a goal or tallies an assist as they have a 2-0-3 record when this happens.
METROS AGAINST 2005 EXPANSION TEAMS: The MetroStars are currently 0-0-2 against new expansion teams this season. Both of these ties have come against Real Salt Lake with the Metros still having two games to come against CD Chivas USA.
NEW TEAM HIGHS: The Metrostars set a new team high with shots in a game on August 14 vs. Columbus with 22 shots, four of which were on goal. Their old mark was 21 shots, which came on July 15 vs. Colorado.
MetroStars forward Youri Djorkaeff, tied a season high having nine shots in the game against Columbus on August 14. His previous season high also came against Columbus on June 18.
METROSTARS GOAL SCORERS: The MetroStars have four players that have scored six goals or more this season (Amado Guevara, Youri Djokraeff, Ante Razov and Sergio Galvan Rey). This is tied for first in the league with Kansas City (Klein, Sealy, Victorine, Wolff).
5 PLAYERS WITH 5 GOALS: The MetroStars are the only team this season with 5 players that have scored 5 or more goals {Amado Guevara (6), Youri Djorkaeff (6), Ante Razov (6), Sergio Galvan Rey (6) and Eddie Gaven (5)}. They were the only team to do it last year also. No team did it in 2002 or 2003. The league record for most players with 5+ goals is 7, by Chicago and LA, both in 1998.
LEITCH SUSPENDED AGAINST CHIVAS USA: MetroStars defender Chris Leitch will be suspended for the MetroStars home game on August 21, 2005 against Chivas USA due to his caution point total. Leitch came into the MetroStars last game, against Columbus, with 20 caution points, one away from a one game suspension. He picked up a yellow card in the 73rd minute for pushing and holding which put him over the caution points limit.
UNBEATEN AT HOME IN LAST EIGHT: After going winless in their first five home games of the season, the Metros have put together an unbeaten streak of eight games at home. The Metros are 5-0-3 during this stretch, beating Chicago, Columbus twice, L.A. and FC Dallas while tying D.C., New England and Colorado.
THE COMEBACK KIDS: The MetroStars have made second half comebacks their past two wins. The first coming against FC Dallas on July 27 when the team was down 2-1 at halftime, winning 3-2 and the second coming on August 14 vs Columbus when the Metros were down 1-0 at halftime, winning 2-1.
METROSTARS UNBEATEN WHEN LEADING AFTER 75 MINUTES: The MetroStars are 7-0-1 when leading after 75 minutes this season. They are 4-0-0 when this happens at home, while 3-0-1 when they are on the road.
ERIC QUILL SEES FIRST ACTION: MetroStars newly acquired midfielder Eric Quill, saw his first action as a MetroStar on Sunday, August 14, vs. Columbus. He came on as a sub in the 85th minute for Ante Razov. Quill was acquired on Friday, August 5th, the MetroStars traded a conditional pick in the 2006 Supplemental Draft to FC Dallas in exchange for the rights to midfielder Eric Quill. Subsequently, Quill was signed by the MetroStars, and per MLS policy terms of the deal are not disclosed.
RAZOV AND UELTSCHEY TO UNDERGO SURGERY: MetroStars forward Ante Razov and goalkeeper Mike Ueltschey will travel to Germany on August 15 to undergo surgery to repair on sports hernias. Dr. Ulrike Muschaweck, a specialist who has performed this particular surgery on more than 1,000 professional soccer players worldwide will be performing the surgery. This is the same doctor that has performed successful hernia surgeries on Chris Leitch, Mike Ueltschey and Bryan Namoff (D.C. United).
METROS ON SPANISH TV: When the MetroStars host Chivas USA this Sunday, the match will be shown on FSNY in Spanish. Ernesto Motta and Robert Siera will be handling the broadcast duties.
TV SCHEDULE CHANGE: Due to hockey season, MSG will no longer carry the telecast of Metros at Chicago on October 5. Instead, they will be covering the game Saturday, Sept. 10 at Kansas City.
Metro soccer report: MSG will air the Metro Soccer Report this week on Thursday at 10:30 p.m. ET. The show will also re-run three more times (on Friday at 6:30 p.m. ET and 11:00 p.m. ET and on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. ET).
