Desmet Added For Playoffs

SOUTHAVEN, MS --- The Mississippi RiverKings of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced that forward Braden Desmet (deh-SMET) will be an amateur addition to the roster for the 2010 Ray Miron President's Cup playoffs, starting tonight at Missouri.

Desmet comes to the RiverKings roster after recently completing a four-year career with the University of Wisconsin-Superior, an NCAA program in the Duluth-Superior area of Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Prior to coming to UW-S, Desmet played three seasons of junior hockey in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) with Drumheller and Olds. His best season came with Olds in his final AJHL campaign, scoring 25 goals with 43 assists for 68 points in 59 games.

At UW-S, Desmet had career highs of 15 goals, 20 assists, and 35 points in his junior campaign for the Yellowjackets. In his senior season this year, he scored five goals and had 19 points in 25 games.

Included in this season's totals were a four-point game against Concordia (Minnesota) on November 6th and a four-game scoring streak between October 31st and November 14th.

Desmet is an all-North Central Hockey Association selection and a two-time all-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference choice. He was also an Alberta Junior Hockey League All-Star during his AJHL career.

Game one of the best-of-three first round series will be tonight at 7:05 PM in Missouri. The series returns to Mississippi for game two at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven on Wednesday evening, March 24th, also at 7:05 PM.
