Ulanski Caps Off Awards Week with MVP
The final award from the CHL's award season was given on Monday afternoon when Colorado's Kevin Ulanski was named the CHL Most Valuable Player. The Madison, Wisconsin native ended the season with 109 points (34-75=109), which also earned him the league's Joe Burton Scoring Championship. Other award winners include Rapid City's Joe Ferras winning the CHL Coach of the Year Award and goaltender Danny Battochio winning the CHL Rookie of the Year Award, Colorado's Aaron Schneekloth winning the Most Outstanding Defenseman Award and Odessa goaltender Joel Martin winning the Most Outstanding Goaltender Award.
Opening Round Series' Face-Off on Monday
The first two playoff series' in the 2010 CHL Ray Miron Presidents' Cup Playoffs get underway on Monday night when the Corpus Christi IceRays host the Texas Brahmas in the South and the Missouri Mavericks host the Mississippi RiverKings in the North. Both series' will be best-of-3 with Games Two and Three taking place in Texas and Mississippi on Wednesday and Thursday respectively. Odessa Heads into Post-Season Red-Hot
The Odessa Jackalopes (48-11-5) ended their remarkable regular season in fitting fashion with a 4-2 win over the Rapid City Rush on Saturday night getting the Jacks over the 100 point mark becoming the first CHL team since 2004 to hit the 100-point plateau (Laredo - 104). Odessa ends the regular season on a four-game winning streak and heads into the playoffs as the number one overall seed with home-ice advantage throughout the post-season. The Jacks will await the winner of the Texas/Corpus Christi best-of-3 Opening Round series and will have their first playoff game on either Friday or Saturday depending on when the Opening Round series concludes.

BY THE NUMBERS
12-0- The record of the home team in the CHL's Opening Round since the 'mini-round' was implemented. All four previous Opening Round best-of-3 series' have gone the distance and the home team has advanced in each instance.
9- The number of points that Allen's forward Nino Musitelli had over the last week of the regular season, three games. The forward scored five goals and had four assists as his team won two of those three games.
2.50- The league-leading goals against average of Odessa goaltender Joel Martin, the CHL's Most Outstanding Goaltender of the 2009-10 season. Martin finished third in the league in wins (27) and third in save percentage (.918). He won seven straight games to end the regular season allowing just 16 goals in those contests. Martin finished just ahead of Missouri rookie Charlie Effinger (2.51 GAA) for the best goals against average in the CHL.
44- The league-leading number of goals that Colorado's Ed McGrane scored this season finishing four better than Corpus Christi's Chad Woollard (40). McGrane scored 14 goals in March and finished the season with 89 points (44-45=89), fourth in the league.
300- The number of wins the Colorado Eagles have in their franchise's history after winning their season finale on Saturday in Arizona. In seven seasons, the Eagles are 300-107-37 averaging 91 points a season with a.717 win percentage.
7- The number of special team's goals the Arizona Sundogs had in their 7-6 victory over the Colorado Eagles on Friday night. The 'Dogs went 6 for 13 with the man advantage and Linus Fagemo scored a shorthanded goal accounting for all seven scores. Steve Potvin led the way with two power play goals and two assists.
SLAP SHOTS
-Mississippi's Ryan Held is currently on a nine-game goal scoring streak, the longest of the season in the CHL, scoring 10 goals over that stretch. Held has tallied a goal in 14 of the RiverKings last 16 games and finished fourth in the CHL with 36 goals.
-The Colorado Eagles trio of Kevin Ulanski, Riley Nelson and Ed McGrane combined for 109 goals and 181 assists on the season, good for 290 points. The lowest scoring team in the CHL, the Wichita Thunder, totaled 349 points as a team.
-During last season's run to The Cup, the Texas Brahmas did not lost a game one in a series and overall are 9-4 in the first game (dating back to 1998).
-The CHL finished the season with 81 sellouts accounting for 17% of its games. The Colorado Eagles led the way playing in front of a sold out crowd in all 32 home games. The expansion Missouri Mavericks finished with 16 sellouts, the Texas Brahmas had 14 and the Rapid City Rush enjoyed 13 packed houses.
