Desjardins Stops 36 In 4-0 Win vs. Toledo

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Cincinnati Cyclones goaltender Cedrick Desjardins stopped 36 shots in a 4-0 win over the Toledo Storm on Thursday night. The win completes a three game sweep of the best-of-five series over the number two seeded Storm. The Cyclones got a goal and an assist from Greg Stewart to help close out the series with Toledo.

The Cyclones opened the scoring when right wing Mike Wirll collected his second goal of the playoffs, as Barett Ehgoetz and Jason Deitsch added the assists on the power play goal at 4:49. Wirll led the ECHL goal scoring during the regular season with 47 scores. Cincinnati outshot Toledo, 21-13, in the opening frame.

The lone goal of the second period was scored by Jean-Michel Daoust of the Cyclones. His score with 12.4 seconds to go in the second period extended the lead to 2-0. Daoust's goal was his first of the postseason, after Jean-Michel scored 32 goals in the regular season. Greg Stewart took a rebound off goaltender Cedrick Desjardins and started the break. The shots on goal favored Toledo, 16-10 in the frame.

The Cyclones added an insurance marker in the third period, when Greg Stewart netted his third of the postseason at 3:28, as Rory Rawlyk and Daoust added the assists. Cincinnati closed out the scoring when Mathieu Aubin tallied his first of the playoffs at 8:03, as Deitsch and Nick Martens added the helpers.

The Cyclones win the best-of-five series and advance to the North Division finals for only the second time in team history. Cincinnati will meet the Dayton Bombers for the division title, the series dates and times will be announced on Friday.
