Des Moines Buccaneers News Release

The Des Moines Buccaneers finished a three-game weekend of road games with a 3-2 overtime loss in Waterloo, halting the team's win streak at four games.

In a scoreless first period, the Buccaneers and Black Hawks went back and forth with 9 shots on goal apiece, and 9 saves for goaltender Jonathan Reinholdt.

The second period started fast paced with both teams gaining power play opportunities. Bucs forward Andrew Clarke (Uncommitted // St. Louis, Mo.) put Des Moines on the board at the 7:57 mark. Chris Battaini started the play up the ice, passing to Alessandro Lurati, who gave it back, before Battaini dropped it on the stick of Clarke. This was Clarke's second goal, Lurati's second point and Battaini's fourth assist of the season.

Before the end of the second, the Black Hawks tied it up with a Gavin Lindberg goal, assisted by Gavyn Thoreson and Connor Brown.

With the third period in full swing at 7:43, forward Paul Minnehan (Uncommitted // Cypress, Ca.) scored, batting in the puck after the shot by Aiden VanRooyan, with an assist to Braedon Ford. With just over five minutes remaining in regulation, Waterloo's Griffin Erdman scored to send the game into overtime.

Just 1:18 into overtime, Erdman raced up ice with the puck and scored after a failed attempt by the Bucs.

Des Moines outshot Waterloo 27-24, Reinholdt finishing with 21 saves.

The Bucs are now 7-7-3-0 with 17 points and are in 5th place in the Western Conference. Des Moines will hit the road once again to play Sioux Falls on Nov. 22 at 7:05pm CT and the game will be broadcast live on FloHockey.tv.
