Fargo 3, USA Hockey NTDP 2 shootout

After dropping a one-goal game Friday night, the winningest team in the USHL returned to the mean to pick up a one-goal win Saturday night. But it wasn't easy.

Fargo took a 1-0 lead over the USA Hockey NTDP on a power play marker from defenseman Leo Gruba at 19:02 of the first period. That lead didn't hold up for long with the NTDP getting a goal from Cole McKinney at 4:39 of the second period. And when Andrew O'Neill scored his second goal of the year at 15:39, the NTDP owned a 2-1 advantage after 40 minutes of action.

Fargo forward Lee Parks scored at 11:46 of the third to send the game into overtime.

Both teams were held off the scoresheet in the five-minute extra session and the Force claimed the win when Mac Swanson was the only player to score in the shootout.

Fargo netminder Hampton Slukynsky stopped 16 shots in the game and all three shots he faced in the shootout to record the win as the Force upped their record to 14-1-1-0 on the season.

Joey Slavik and Harrison Boettiger combined for 41 saves for the NTDP (6-8-0-1).

Madison 6, Green Bay 4

Austin Burnevik recorded a hat trick and assisted on another goal in pacing Madison to a 6-4 win at Green Bay Saturday.

The host Gamblers owned a 2-1 lead after the first period of play, getting on the board first when Josh Player scored less than 30 seconds into the contest. Rainers Rullers, who finished with a goal and two assists in the game, evened things up with a goal at 11:22 and Julian Lutz scored 30 seconds later, allowing Green Bay to regain the lead.

Burnevik's seventh goal of the season, which came at 5:10 of the second, knotted things at 2-2 and when James Hong scored at 10:04, the Capitols took the lead for the first time. The Gamblers refused to go away though, with Geno Carcone tallying at 11:28 and at the end the second, the score stood 3-3.

It became a 6-4 Muskegon lead when Justin Solovey tallied his seventh of the year at 12:47. A Tri-City goal by Ryan Smith with just over a minute remaining brought the Storm within one, but the Lumberjacks were able to hold on the rest of the way to claim the win.
