Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA - The Dubuque Fighting Saints (13-2-1-2, 29 pts) used two third-period goals from Noah Powell to take a 4-2 win on the road against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders (8-8-1-1, 18 pts) on Saturday night.
Dubuque fell behind early in the third period, staring at their first deficit of the game. During a two-man advantage, Powell forced a puck to the front of the net and scored a goal after it bounced in off of a Riders' defenseman. The game-tying tally was Powell's second power-play goal in as many nights.
Just 2:09 after that, Powell took a puck at the left circle and ripped it into the back of the net to give the Saints a 3-2 lead with 6:35 to play. His fourth goal of the season sealed his first-career multi-goal game.
A Michael Barron empty-netter finished the win late for Dubuque. Kevin Reidler was credited with 15 saves on 17 shots in the contest.
The Fighting Saints struck first in Saturday's game with Jake Sondreal scoring his 10th of the season late in the opening period. The Saints held a 1-0 lead until the final minutes of the second period when Cedar Rapids tied the game on the power play.
Powell's big third period led the Saints the rest of the way in the final frame and helped Dubuque sweep the weekend. The Fighting Saints are now 8-1-0-0 on the road this season.
The Fighting Saints remain atop the Eastern Conference with 29 points.
