Deleurme Joins 'Bugs For Stretch Run

March 13, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA - The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs of the Central Hockey League today announced the signing of forward Jason Deleurme for the remainder of the 2009-10 season. Deleurme, whose rights were acquired from Wichita in a trade last month, will be in the Mudbugs' lineup wearing #12 for tonight's game in Mississippi.

Deleurme, 33, joins the 'Bugs after returning from Sweden, where he played the past two months since departing the CHL. The 12th year pro started the season with the Colorado Eagles, scoring three goals and adding two assists in just four games before joining Wichita. In 18 games with the Thunder, Deleurme had two goals and seven assists for nine points and 34 penalty minutes.

After he left Wichita to play overseas, the Mudbugs acquired Deleurme's rights in the same February 8 deal that brought defenseman Jim Jorgensen to Bossier-Shreveport at the CHL's trading deadline.

A native of Kelowna, British Columbia, Deleurme spent the past nine seasons playing in various European leagues, including both the German and Swedish Elite Leagues. In well over 500 professional games, he has career totals of more than 150 goals, 400 points and 800 penalty minutes.

The 5-8, 185-pound forward has also played in the ECHL and WCHL in his career, winning an ECHL Kelly Cup Championship with the Peoria Rivermen in 2000. Deleurme notched 20 points in 18 playoff games during that cup run and has averaged over one point-per-game in the postseason during his career.

The Mudbugs and RiverKings will faceoff tonight at approximately 7:15 pm after the jersey retirement ceremony of former 'Kings great Don Parsons. Radio coverage for the contest will begin at about 6:50 pm on News Radio 710 AM KEEL, and the game will also be shown live online on CHL TV.
