
Bucks Win To Move Ahead of Texas For Third

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League beat the Arizona Sundogs 5-3 Saturday night in front of 5,186 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The win puts the Bucks back into sole possession of third place in the Southern Conference as they improve to 30-20-10 (70 points) and move two points ahead of Texas.
Curtis Billsten and Maxime Lincourt each had two goals and an assist while Pier Pelleteir improved to 8-0-1 in his last nine decisions as he set aside 26 shots.
The Bucks jumped out in front of the Sundogs 2-0 after the first period.
Laredo took a 1-0 lead just 4:57 into the opening period when Billsten took a pass from Lincourt and streaked past the defense to score his ninth goal of the season.
The Bucks would increase their lead to 2-0 with just 1:24 left in the first period when Sylvain Deschatelets took a feed from Darryl Smith at the bottom of the right circle and snapped a shot into the back of the net. The tally was Deschatelets' fifth in nine games with the Bucks this season.
Laredo outshot Arizona 11-10 in the first period.
Arizona cut the Bucks lead to 2-1 at the 12:37 mark of the second period when Nick Biondo scored from the top of the slot. Biondo picked up his second goal of the season.
The Bucks would go up 3-1 just 41 seconds later when Billsten scored his second of the night off of a slap shot from the middle of the hash marks. It was Billsten's first multi-goal game with the Bucks.
Marc Belanger made it 3-2 Bucks with 3:39 left in the second as he picked up a loose puck in the slot and hammered in a slap shot.
Laredo would go up 4-2 just 58 seconds later when Maxime Lincourt picked up a loose puck at the top of the slot and scored on a laser slap shot. The strike was Lincourt's 10th of the season and his first since December 8th.
Each team put up 12 shots in the second period.
Lincourt scored his second goal of the night just 4:17 into the third period to put the Bucks up 4-2. It was Lincourt's first multi-goal game since December 8th.
Linus Fagemo scored with just 17 seconds left to make it 5-3 Bucks.
J.F Perras suffered the loss for Arizona as he stopped 31 of 36 shots.
Laredo outshot Arizona 36-29.
The Bucks travel to take on the Texas Brahmas Sunday at 4pm at the NYTEX Sports Center in a huge game for third place in the Southern Conference.
