DeJiulio Strikes out Eleven in Victory

EDINBURG, Texas - Frank DeJiulio struck out 11 batters in seven innings of work leading the Edinburg Roadrunners past the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings 4-1 Saturday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
The Roadrunners (10-12) grabbed the early lead against Anthony Bello in the bottom of the first. After a double by Fernando De Los Santos that put runners at second and third, a wild pitch allowed Chris Christopolous to score. Agustin Septimo then followed with an RBI groundout allowing De Los Santos to score making it 2-0.
Edinburg added two more runs in the bottom of the seventh after RBI singles from Bobby Rinard and Septimo that extended their lead 4-0.
The WhiteWings (11-11) got on the board in the top of the eighth when pinch-hitter Hiroki Itakura hit an RBI single to left center field that allowed Thomas Schull to score cutting into the Roadrunners lead 4-1.
Damian Seguen pitched a scoreless ninth after allowing a run in the eighth giving Edinburg the 4-1 victory while recording his first save of the season.
DeJiulio (2-1) picked up his second win after pitching seven shutout innings while Bello (1-3) took the tough-luck loss for the WhiteWings after striking out 10 in six innings.
The Roadrunners and WhiteWings will play the third game of their four-game series Sunday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium with the first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
Sunday's home game will be RGV Food Bank Night where four cans of non-perishable food will get you a general admission ticket.
