Fort Worth Cats News Release
In a slew of roster moves over the past week, the Fort Worth Cats have signed three new players.
The Cats signed right-handed pitchers Roman Gomez and Wes Alsup earlier this week and signed infielder Ryan Miller on Friday.
To make room on the roster, the team has released outfielder Alex Foltz, pitcher Jorge Rodriguez and infielder Kyle Pearson.
Miller made his presence known early in his first game with the team on Friday. He went 1-for-2 with an RBI and two runs. He is in the lineup in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.
Gomez started his first game with the Cats on Tuesday, June 11 and gave up six earned runs in 3.2 innings of work, earning a no decision. Gomez is scheduled to start Sunday's game.
Alsup, who spent time in the Braves and Mariners MLB organizations, has thrown two innings out of the bullpen, giving up one hit and striking out two.
Pearson, who was signed by the Cats on June 7, had a .120 average in 25 at-bats. In his second game with the team, he hit a game-winning home run in the eighth inning - one of only three hits while with the team. He was released on Friday.
Foltz saw limited playing time with the team. He had seven hits in 22 at-bats and had one RBI.
Rodriguez had pitched 5.1 innings with the team, giving up five earned runs on four hits.
The Cats play a doubleheader on Saturday night against the McAllen Thunder beginning at 6:05 p.m.
