San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas --- The Alexandria Aces used 11 walks and four wild pitches to their advantage, defeating the San Angelo Colts, 9-4, Friday night at Foster Field.

Alexandria scored two runs in the first without recording a hit. Centerfielder Zack Cadet and designated hitter Austin Newell both walked and scored on outs. Second baseman Eddie Murray had an RBI ground out that brought home Cadet, and Newell scored on a sacrifice fly by right fielder Chad Bunting.

The Aces drew four walks in the first inning alone.

San Angelo tied the game at two in the bottom of the first, but they never led. The Aces took the lead for good in the second inning.

Down 5-2, the Colts rallied for two runs in the bottom of the sixth to cut their deficit to 5-4. Left fielder Braden Embry and right fielder Tyler Wagner both hit RBI singles that inning. For Wagner, it was his first professional hit.

Alexandria responded with a vengeance, scoring four runs in the final two innings to put the game out of reach.

Colts' starter Kristian Bueno (0-1) took the loss. He allowed four runs, three earned, on five hits in as many innings of work. Aces' starter Dan Schmidt (2-0) earned his second win, surrendering four runs on nine hits in 5 2/3 innings. Reliever Nathan Stewart earned his first save of the year.

The win improves Alexandria to 11-10, while the loss drops San Angelo to 10-11. The Colts play game two of this four-game series against the Aces Saturday night at Foster Field.
