Cats Dominate Game One, Hang on in Game Two to Sweep Doubleheader

June 15, 2013 - United League Baseball (ULB)
Fort Worth Cats News Release

In two vastly different games on Saturday night, one thing remained constant: the Fort Worth Cats were victorious.

The Cats (15-8) and McAllen Thunder (9-14) squared off in a scheduled doubleheader on Saturday. The Cats blew out the Thunder in game one, 15-3, then squeezed out a narrow victory in game two, 2-1.

Game one

The Cats used an offensive outburst and took advantage of miscues to win the first contest. The Cats had 11 hits and the Thunder made five defensive errors.

McAllen got on the board in the first inning, but the Cats scored four runs in the fourth inning and six in the fifth to put the game out of reach.

Left fielder Aljay Davis had three RBI in the game, including a bases-loaded triple, while Cameron Monger, Shelby Ford and Greg Bachman tallied 2 RBI each.

Starting pitcher Aaron Wilkerson went the distance throwing 115 pitches.

Game two

T.J. Bozeman - normally a reliever - pitched very effectively in his first start of the season. He went six innings, allowing only one earned run on four hits.

Thunder starter Trent Evings ended up the hard-luck loser, as he allowed no earned runs in six innings pitched.

Both Cats' runs came in the fourth on a Ford groundout and a Daniel Meeley sacrifice fly.

With the two wins, the Cats have now won four games in a row. They look to make it five in a row on Sunday when they take on the Thunder at 6:05.

To celebrate Father's Day, all fathers and their children can play catch on the field prior to the game. Ticket's to Sunday's game are $5.

Fans can purchase tickets by going to FWCats.com or by calling (817) 332-CATS.
