Defensive Miscues Cost Cutters in Loss

The Williamsport Crosscutters fell 8-2 on the road in Mahoning Valley on Thursday night, committing three costly errors to allow the home team five unearned runs.

The home team capitalized on a fielding error by Williamsport in the bottom of the first, collecting three hits to jump out to an early 3-0 lead.

The Cutters got on the scoreboard in the top of the third, as Maikel Franco's two-out, two-run double made it 3-2.

Mahoning Valley increased their lead to 4-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning on an RBI single by KC Serna. They tacked on four more in the bottom of the eighth off Jesus Pirela, using a hit, three walks, and two hit-by-pitches to make it 8-2.

Cutters starter Adam Morgan made his professional debut in the game, pitching three innings and allowing three unearned runs while striking out three.
