Aberdeen IronBirds News Release

Aberdeen, MD - The Lowell Spinners struck early and often against Aberdeen IronBirds starting pitcher Parker Bridwell on their way to a 9-3 win in front of 6,565 at Ripken Stadium.

The game was delayed by 50 minutes at the start due to rain, but once it started, Lowell started scoring. The Spinners jumped in front in the top of the first. Keury De La Cruz led off with a single. He then stole second and third. As he was sliding into third, catcher Adam Davis' throw went into left field, which allowed De La Cruz to come in to score and gave the Spinners a 1-0 lead.

Lowell did not wait long to add to their lead. After Bridwell retired the first two Spinners hitters in the top of the third, Lowell rattled off five straight hits- three doubles followed by two singles and four runs came in to score, as the Spinners three through six hitters all came home in the inning, pushing the lead to 5-0.

Aberdeen got on the board in the bottom of the third. Mychal Givens hit a one-out double and then Connor Narron hit a single that got into center field, which allowed Givens to score, making it 5-1 Lowell.

Lowell added runs in the sixth, seventh, and ninth. In the sixth, Moko Moanaroa walked, Jose Garcia singled, and then Travis Shaw hit a fielder's choice with an error charged to Dudley Leonora, which loaded the bases. Boss Moanaroa then walked, which scored his brother Moko, making it 6-1. While Jason Thompson was at the plate, a wild pitch from IronBirds pitcher Jose Mota allowed Garcia to score, swelling the Lowell lead to 7-1.

In the seventh, Seth Schwindenhammer led off with a single, advanced to second on a Jayson Hernandez single, and then scored on a Drew Turocy groundout as the Spinners led 8-1.

Schwindenhammer led off the ninth with a double and then scored on a Moko Moanaroa groundout, giving Lowell nine runs for the game.

Aberdeen struck for two in the bottom of the ninth. Narron led off with a walk, and advanced to second on an Austin Goolsby single. After Kyle Hoppy reached on a fielder's choice, Narron advanced to third. Leonora came up then and smashed a double, scoring both Narron and Hoppy, making the final score 9-3 in favor of the Spinners.

Bridwell (1-3, 4.71) took the loss for Aberdeen. He went three innings, allowed six hits, five runs (all earned), walking two and striking out four. Luis Diaz (2-1, 3.79) got the win for the Spinners. He pitched five innings, allowed four hits, one (earned) run, three walks and three strikeouts.
