Tacoma Defiance News Release

SEATTLE, WASH. - Sounders FC 2 defender Michael Nelson has been named to the USL Team of the Week for Week 4 after helping S2 earn its first win of the season, a 1-0 result over Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on April 17. Making his first professional appearance, Nelson teamed up with First Team players Tony Alfaro and Oniel Fisher, along with Cameroonian international Nouhou Tolo, to keep Switchbacks FC's attack at bay in the 1-0 shutout win at Starfire Stadium.

Additionally, goalkeeper Tyler Miller earned a reserve spot on the Team of the Week. The Northwestern product and second-year pro recorded six saves in Sunday's contest as S2 kept a clean-sheet for the first time this season.

After wrapping up a five-match homestand to open the 2016 USL season, S2's hits the road for the first time this season on Tuesday, April 26 against Real Monarchs SLC (6:00 p.m. PT / live-streamed on SoundersFC.com). S2 Flex Plans are available now for a cost of $100, with fans able to choose any eight combinations for all remaining S2 home matches. Additional information on the S2 Flex Plan, season tickets, group tickets and single-match options can be found via: www.SoundersFC.com/S2/Tickets.
