Everett AquaSox News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - The AquaSox returned to their winning ways Wednesday night, defeating the Yakima Bears by a score of 6-2 at Everett Memorial Stadium.

Southpaw Scott DeCecco was brilliant in his longest outing of the season for the Sox, racking up eight strikeouts and allowing just four hits in seven innings of work. The only damage done to DeCecco came in the fifth and seventh inning on solo home runs by the Bears.

The Frogs got on the board in the bottom of the fifth in a big way, putting together a four-run inning to jump out to a 4-1 lead over Yakima. Mike Faulkner and Ketel Marte got the rally started with back-to-back singles, and Brock Hebert plated the first run on a ground out. Later in the inning, Patrick Kivlehan launched one to the center-field wall for a stand-up double that plated another run. Catcher Marcus Littlewood capped off the four-run inning with a double of his own to the right-center field wall to plate two more.

The Sox rallied for a couple more runs in the sixth, with the first run coming on a triple by Hebert. Taylor Ard followed with a chopper in hole on the left side for an RBI single.

Faulkner led off both of the big innings for the AquaSox with singles, scoring both times, and finished with a season-high three hits. The Arkansas State alumnus also recorded his 13th stolen base.

The AquaSox will face the Bears Thursday night in the second game of the five-game series, with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Marcos Reyna (0-3, 3.78 ERA) is scheduled to make his second start of the season for the Frogs, and will be opposed by right-hander Kyle Owings (1-4, 4.65 ERA) of Yakima.

Come out to the ballpark for the last Tasty Thursday of the season and enjoy $2 Miller Lite beers, $2 sodas, $2 hot dogs and $2 peanuts. For information about tickets, visit the AquaSox stadium store at 3802 Broadway in Everett, call 425-258-3675 or log onto aquasox.com.
