Vancouver Canadians News Release

(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, BC) - In a game that had 31 hits, 17 runs and an inside-the-park home run, the Vancouver Canadians (40-27) fell 11-6 to the Boise Hawks (32-35) on Wednesday night out at sold out Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium.

After falling behind by a run, the Canadians would plate three in the bottom of the 2nd inning when DH Art Charles hit his 5th home run of the summer, a solo blast, followed shortly after by a two-run home run off the bat of C Santiago Nessy who would hit the home run in his first plate appearance with Vancouver after being called up from Bluefield (Appalachian League) on Tuesday.

All three Vancouver Canadians outfielders including LF Dwight Smith Jr., CF Ian Parmley and RF Matt Newman would have trouble tracking fly balls in the 4th and 5th innings that helped Boise's offense keep rolling as the Hawks scored ten (10) runs between the 4th and 7th innings.

Each of the Hawks nine hitters in the line-up had base hits on Wednesday with 2B Stephen Bruno, RF Willson Contreras and LF Izzac Garsez picking up three hits each in the victory.

Down 11-3 in the bottom of the 8th inning, Vancouver rallied for three runs with RF Matt Newman hitting a three-run inside-the-park home run that scored both DH Art Charles (double) and 1B Balbino Fuenmayor (single) to make the final 11-6.
