De La Cruz Delivers Pair of Homers in Skeeters Win over Round Rock

(ROUND ROCK, Texas) - Bryan De La Cruz hit a pair of home runs as the Sugar Land Skeeters beat the Round Rock Express 3-1 on Saturday night at Dell Diamond.

De La Cruz has now homered three times over the Skeeters' last two games. De La Cruz has hit seven of his nine home runs this season against Round Rock. He delivered solo shots in the fourth and eighth innings.

Jose Siri added a soler homer in the win as well. Siri's ninth home run of the year came in the sixth inning to give the Skeeters a 2-0 lead. Siri, who went 3-for-5, has hit .391 over his last 12 games.

JP France got the start for the Skeeters and struck out nine batters in his second consecutive outing. The nine strikeouts match the most from a Skeeters pitcher this season. France, who's the first Skeeters pitcher this year to collect at least nine strikeouts in back-to-back outings, has 18 strikeouts over his last 10 2/3 innings. He allowed just three hits over 5 2/3 innings to pick up the winning decision.

Riley Ferrell pitched a scoreless ninth inning to collect his first save of the season.

Round Rock tallied its only run of the night on an RBI double from Delino DeShields in the seventh. Express starter Brock Burke was handed the loss, allowing a run on four hits through 4 2/3 innings of work.

The Skeeters and Express match up again at 6:05 p.m. on Sunday. Right-hander Austin Hansen is scheduled to start for the Skeeters, with Round Rock slated to start right-hander Tyler Phillips.
