Daytona Cubs INF/OF Rock Shoulders Named FSL Player of the Week

DAYTONA BEACH, FL - The Florida State League announced, Monday, that Daytona Cubs INF/OF Rock Shoulders has been named the FSL Player of the Week for the week ending August 10th .

In five games for Daytona, Shoulders (22) went 6-for-14 with three home runs, six runs scored, a double and 10 walks.

Shoulders reached base safely in 16 of his 24 plate appearances (.667).

Since July 9th, The Tampa, FL native leads the entire FSL with a .471 on-base percentage, and is tied for the league-lead with six home runs over that stretch, with 26 fewer at-bats than any of the other players with six. Shoulders has reached base safely in eight-straight and 26 of his last 28 games.

Shoulders is the first Daytona Cubs player or pitcher to earn the weekly honor this season. Daytona had nine winners in 2013.

The Cubs are set to wrap up a three-game series with the Lakeland Flying Tigers on Monday at Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark, sitting 3.5 games up in the FSL North Second Half standings.
