DAYTON, OH - The Great Lakes Loons managed just three hits in three separate innings and put no other runners on base Thursday night in a 6-0 shutout loss to the Dayton Dragons.

The game was played in front of another sellout crowd of 9,509 at Fifth Third Field, the 975th consecutive sellout at the ballpark, the longest streak ever in US professional sports.

The loss for the Loons combined with a Bowling Green makes the Loons just a half game ahead of the Hot Rods in the Eastern Division Second Half standings. Dayton now trails the Loons by 2 1/2 games and is two games behind Bowling Green for the final playoff berth.

The Loons managed just three hits in the game - two singles by catcher Webster Rivas and a double by DH Aaron Miller.

Nick Travieso (7-3) started, and the Reds' first round selection last year limited the Loons to two hits over six innings, striking out six. Jesus Adamez and Abel de los Santos continued the shutout in relief.

Loons starter Jonathan Martinez (2-4), starting in place of the traded Miguel Sulbaran and making his first start for the Loons since May 12, surrendered five runs (all earned) in five innings.

Ralston Cash provided the Loons with solid relief. He did not allow an earned run in three relief innings.

Martinez walked two with two out in the first inning before a two-run double by Daniel Pigott brought home the Dragons' first two runs of the game.

In the third, Seth Mejias-Brean doubled in two runs, and Jeff Gelalich notched an RBI single.

The Dragons scored their final run in the eighth, an unearned run scored on a dropped fly ball along the right field line by Devin Shines.

Jeff Gelalich led the Dragons' nine-hit attack with three singles. Beau Amaral recorded two hits.

The Dragons seek to sweep the Loons Friday night in Dayton at 7 p.m. Right-hander Zachary Bird (1-3, 5.71), recently promoted from Ogden, starts for the Loons against Dayton lefty Amir Garrett (0-2, 6.30). The game will be broadcast live on ESPN 100.9-FM and ESPN1009.com.

The Great Lakes Loons are a seventh-year Single-A partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers. For tickets and more information about the Loons, visit Loons.com or call 989-837-BALL.
