LAST WEEKS GAMES
Friday (Oct. 28) at Rapid City Rush, 4-3 Shootout Loss
Despite end to end play that featured a deadlocked score for most of the game, the Dayton Gems would be forced to take one point away from the Rapid City Rush in a hard fought 4-3 shootout loss on Friday night in front of 4,000 inside the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in downtown Rapid City, South Dakota. Scoring for the Gems included Damian Surma, Kyle Bochek and Nick Fanto. Goalie Bryan Hogan made his first start between the pipes, stopping a whopping 47 shots in the effort. This was the first meeting between the two clubs since the Rush eliminated the Gems from the Turner Conference playoffs on April 5. This was also the second consecutive opening night the Gems have participated in (Bloomington on Oct 22). Full Game Recap Here.
Saturday (Oct. 29) at Rapid City Rush, 5-4 Loss
The Dayton Gems would once again battle evenly with the Rapid City Rush, but would find themselves on the losing end of a 5-4 Rush lead when the final horn blew after sixty minutes of hard fought hockey for their first regulation loss of the season in front of 4,740 fans at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in downtown Rapid City, South Dakota on Saturday night. With the loss, Dayton dropped to 0-1-2, 2pts, and left Rapid City with one out of a possible four points available during the weekend series. This was also the Gems first loss in regulation of the season. Full postgame writeup here.
